Morning, all!
To those of you in the path of Irma / Jose, I hope you’re as safe and sound as you can be. We will likely get tropical storm strength winds and rain, which means flooding and falling trees since we’ve been dry for a while, in Atlanta.
Hubby is on his way to the farmers’ market to stock us up before the shelves are emptied. For those of you who asked, yes, my husband loved his present! So now, when his legs, knees, and back give him trouble, he has the option to use motorized two-wheeled transport, but otherwise, he’ll still putter around on his bicycle, or use public transit. We are a car-less family. 🙂
Here’s more from Joey in “Truck Me Back to Normal,” published by MLR Press.

That night, as I lay in bed, I thought again about Barrimore Lancett. Bear. He was a man and a half, wasn’t he? Not once had he cracked a smile, but he had dimples cut into his cheeks, so I bet his grin would be spectacular. I wondered what it would take to make him laugh. I doubted I’d ever find out.
By nine o’clock the next morning, every muscle in my body ached, and I’d discovered the aroma of cow shit.
Not my favorite.

I love the juxtaposition of the beautiful description with that… HAHAHAHA.
Hehe – thanks 🙂
The end of this made me laugh!
Gotta love the smell of the outdoors! 😀
Loving that he’s spotted the dimples already… Bear clearly made an impression.
Indeed he did! 🙂
Haha, I run past a field of cows sometimes, so I can grimace with him 🙂
Maybe the smell makes you run faster?? LOL
Hahahaha. Eau de cowshit. 😀
Hopefully he’ll find the trick to making bear smile.
It will take some work… 🙂
Something tells me he will get to see that grin 😉
Indeed! 🙂
hahahaha as someone who’s computer room overlooks a cow pasture I’m so with him there.
I bet 🙂
Love the last line — it made me laugh. (And there are worse smells. Much worse.)
Yes, there are much worse! 🙂
Sweet, how he’s noticed those dimples. 🙂
I loooove dimples. Hubby has them. He got them from his mom. 🙂
That smell will fade… says she who used to live in the middle of a four section ranch in Texas. But as for Bear… hope he finds that grin, and soon.
It’s amazing what the nose will get used to. 🙂
Haha love that last line. Can’t imagine it’s anyone’s!
It’s definitely not mine!
I’ll bet he’s wrong and he’ll find out what makes Bear smile.
Maybe so! 😉
I doubted I’d ever find out. — Sounds like a challenge! ♡
Don’t you love foreshadowing? 🙂
