Happy Sunday!

Here’s a snippet from “Because of Sam,” published by MLR Press. It’s from a scene between Martin (three-year-old Sam’s uncle) and Ryan (who works at Sam’s daycare center). Enjoy. 🙂

“Any help you’re willing to give would definitely be appreciated, but I don’t want you to think that’s the only reason I want you with us.”

“No?” Ryan looked at me, and I realized what he was asking.

“We’ve only just met, Ryan, but what I know of you intrigues me. I’d like to pursue that, see where it goes, if that’s all right with you?”

He let out a breath. “That’s definitely all right with me. You don’t mind that I’m…younger than you?”

“Only by a few years, and that doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Who am I to judge, anyway? I haven’t been on a date in years, and I’m not much of a prize, myself, with my scars and all.”

“But you’re hotter than fire!” Ryan blushed. “Jesus, my mouth…”

Happy Sunday!

Here’s a snippet from, “The Hippie Whisperer.” It was just released yesterday. Enjoy. 🙂

“Hey, I wanted to show you something on the Internet. Can we use your computer?”

“Sure. What’s up?”

“You’ll see.”

A few minutes later I stared in horror at my monitor and shook my head vigorously.

“No way in hell,” I said, unequivocally. A man’s garish profile grinned at me while Chester tried to convince me to participate in online dating.

“Why not?” he prodded.

“The guy has red, white, and blue stripes in his hair. He looks like a patriotic skunk.”

“Like you can talk with your thinning, shoulder-length, blond hippie hair and seventies sideburns. Neil Young would like his hair back.”

Happy Sunday!

Here’s a snippet from, “Truck Me How I Like It.” Enjoy. 🙂

“You waited,” he said as he sat beside me again. The bartender gave him a Bud this time.

“You can drink now?” I asked, watching him guzzle it down in a few swallows.

“Yeah, but not too many. I still have to drive home tonight, but I need to unwind a bit.” Putting himself in my personal space, Paul continued, “You stayed, Derrick. Tell me why.” The finger that ran up my inseam was distracting.

“You intrigue me,” I said, opening my legs a little so he could have access to my dick, if he wanted it. I was his for the taking.

Happy Sunday!

Here’s a snippet from, “Hot Dogs and Kisses.” Enjoy. 🙂

A few minutes later, I felt the mood shift a little in the bar and turned to see what was up. I almost dropped my beer when I saw Abel walking through the crowd, men drooling a little as he squeezed by, though they surely didn’t make it easy.

Ricky leaned in to whisper in my ear, “You sure he’s innocent? He looks like sex on a stick, and he knows it.”

I had to agree.

Happy Sunday!

Here’s a snippet from, “The Beat of His Drum,” part of the “Wedding Bell Blues” series. Enjoy. 🙂

“Dorian, Come on!” he yelled. “I’m a tool, okay? I know that. Just talk to me. Please?”

I didn’t respond, but leaned against the door, my forehead resting on the hard surface as I tried to quell the tears of frustration I knew would fall if I let them.

“Go away,” I whispered.

He pounded the door for a while, and I was sure the neighbors were wondering what the hell was going on. After ten minutes of silence on my part, he gave up, but not before slipping a business card under the door. I waited a little bit longer before I picked it up.

The card had his name, email address, and phone number. “Call me,” he’d written on the back.

No way in hell.

Hi there! 🙂

Hope you’re all doing well. Here’s a snippet from my short story, “The Best Man For Me.” Enjoy. 🙂 (NSFW for language)

—-

“Royce, I can explain.”

Rodney had to catch me before I fell because I was laughing so hard. “Explain? Really? I’m sure you can! This is your assistant, and you’re both working late on those multi-million dollar contracts, right?”

I turned to Thad’s companion. “Hi, sweetie. My name is Royce Lummis. I’m your date’s fiancé. We were to be married tomorrow night, but now the wedding’s off.” I wiped away the tears that now streamed down my face.

“A few tips about Thad?” I continued. “He likes it when you call him a donkey slut while he’s fucking you. And his dick is kind of thin, so you might have to clench really hard to feel anything at all. But maybe you know that already. Just moan like you’re enjoying yourself. He’ll never know the difference.”

To Thad I said, “I’ll be moving out tomorrow. You’ll find my set of keys on the kitchen table. Goodbye, Thad.” I turned to Rodney. “Get me out of here, please?”

Halloooo, Snippeteers! This little excerpt comes from “Truck Me Back To Normal.”

Enjoy,

J.D. Walker 🙂

“Joey! We gotta talk. Please? Just talk, I swear.”

Worn out, I turned and leaned my head against the peeling paint. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Bear.”

“We either talk it out now, or it’ll happen in front of witnesses. You want that? Really?”

Grrr.

I opened the door and rested against the doorjamb. I was sure I looked a sight, and the spot I’d punched on Bear’s face was turning purple. Wonderful. “Talk.”

“Joey, I get that you’re worried about being relationship material for…well, anyone. But you have to try sometime, right? I’m okay with it being fucking around to start with, if that’s what
you need. I’m happy to go at whatever pace you want, in fact, as long as you don’t shut me out. Can’t we at least try to be friends? You need a friend, don’t you?”

I shook my head. “Bear, I don’t—”

He lifted a finger and pressed it against my lips. “I don’t, either. But maybe we can find out together, huh?” And then, he slowly pulled my traitorously willing body to his, and right there on a hot afternoon, with dirt on our clothes and grass in our hair, Bear kissed me, and I was lost.

Halloooo, Snippeteers! This little excerpt comes from “All A Steer Can Do Is Try.”

Enjoy,

J.D. Walker 🙂

“…I think I’d like to just ‘be’ for a while. I think I’ll extend my reservation for another week here, if you think you can handle a broken man and his dog hanging around for a while longer.”

“Not even an issue. I’ll throw out a guest if I have to.”

I glared at him, but he winked at me, so I poked him in the side. “You’re crazy.”

“Maybe, but I like having you around. I love spending time with you. I haven’t felt a connection like this with anyone in a long time.” He cleared his throat. “Does that scare you?”

I shook my head. “Just the opposite.”

His gaze sharpened. “That right?”

In answer, I moved my hands to his shoulders and stood on tiptoe to kiss him softly.

“It’s about damn time,” I heard a woman say.
