Welcome, dear readers! I’m doing CampNano this month with the hope of getting some stories done, at last. π
Here’s another snippet from my work in progress tentatively titled, The Artist’s Mechanic. Background – Dolan is the art teacher of a drawing class where Logan is posing (his baby brother blackmailed him) as a model. The students are mostly over sixty years old, and, er, a little too friendly. Longer than six sentences for context.
—
Dolan’s eyes widened with pleasure when he recognized me. Grinning, he said, βLogan! I didnβt realize you worked here, man.β
I shrugged, feeling a little off-kilter. βSo you need new spark plugs?β
Dolan nodded and handed over the keys. βAnd could you check the air filter and give me new windshield wipers, too?β
βSure thing.β I walked around his car. He drove an older model Toyota that looked to be in good shape.
βYou were a big hit with the students yesterday, by the way,β Dolan said, grinning as he stepped out of my way. “They can’t stop talking about your, um, attributes.”
βAs long as none of them ask me out for a date to investigate my attributes, Iβm cool,β I said with a grunt.

Hahahah definitely. Great snippet, J.D. π
Thank you π
Gotta love a man who’s so pragmatic. π
Right? π
Can’t blame him for his sentiment in that last line.
Me, either.
Oh, it must be awkward, being recognised with his clothes on! Poor lad. π
It’s just not his thing. π
Hehe, I can’t wait to hear more about his attributes π
I bet. π
Attributes…LOL Those art students!!!!
π π
Okay, I’ve been in those sort of classes, as a student, and anyone attractive posing gets ogled, like it or not. Part of the, um, position. Logan is trying hard to be so nonchalant about it., but I know it’s awkward as hell. How could it not be–even if you’ve learned to tolerate it. This was good. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I was trying to portray how discomfiting it can be in such a position.
LOL!
I have images of a bunch of little old ladies discussing his attributes, baking him cookies, and trying to set him up with their daughters/granddaughters.
Oh, that’s awesome. π
LOL. I want to know what was said about his…attributes. π
I haven’t decided yet. π
