Welcome to Rainbow Snippets weekend!
Today, I am sharing bits from another story called “The Hippie Whisperer” – published by JMS Books.
Basic premise of the story: Carl needs to learn how to let his adult son live his own life, and his son Chester is trying to find him a boyfriend. π This scene is near the beginning of the story, with a phone call from Chester.

I [Carl] had worked as a counselor for almost twenty years. It was a job I loved, helping students meet their goals, solving problems. Lately, it took my mind off the empty house, now that Chester was away at school, living his own life. Kept the loneliness I barely acknowledged at bay.
My cell phone rang as I buckled myself into the car. Speak of the devil. I put it on speaker. βHey, buddy! Howβs it going?β
βHi, Dad,β Chester said, his voice a little tinny over the speaker.

Read more snippets–all of them fabulous–on FB:
Yeah, my youngest went off to college this year. The house is very quiet.
It’s hard to adjust…
Interesting reflection. I wonder what kind of man Chester turned into? Someone who’s close to his dad, or the kind who only calls when they want something.
He turned out very well…he just has to deal with his Dad’s “clingy” ways… π
Empty nests are never easy!
True π
Interesting π I wonder what the call is about
Thanks! You’ll find out next week. π
Nice snippet, I’m curious to know what he’s calling Dad about.
Thank you! You’ll find out next time. π
Aww, poor guy, how lonely he sounds…it’s good to know his son is calling.
He loves his son, almost too much sometimes. π
Thanks π
Awww… Sounds delightful. Thank you for sharing. And Happy Writing!
Thank you! π
